ANSWER: Since you asked... You could use an 8-port or 16-port router switch to add more ports. Plug all your current Ethernet cable connections into the switch instead of the router. Connect the switch to your router so that it is the only connection. Now you will have open ports on the switch so you can connect the MyQ and any future devices to the switch instead of the router. I like TP-LINK brand switches but I don't know enough about this stuff to tell you if another brand is equivalent. Hope this helps. by Clay F a

ANSWER: The gateway will work with an 8500, but the real question is whether or not your wireless router will be able to communicate with the 8500. It all depends on your router's area coverage and whatever might block the signal. The only way to know is to try it. by Josh K a
