QUESTION: My door measures 7 feet tall but the cable that was removed from it is 115" long. I see the length for 7" doors is usually 102" long. 116" is for 8' doors. When I run 115" cable out it appears to be correct with about 1/2 wrap around the pulley w door down. Looks like 102" would be too short. I don't get it but need to order a new cable. Should I just get the same length? The 8' door length even tho it's a 7' door? by None N 2/4/2014
ANSWER: Buy the cable at your local hardware store along with crimpable ends. Allow for 1 1/2 wraps with door up. I used tear drop and cable clamps at the bottom of the door. by Daniel M a
ANSWER: Sounds like you have 8ft track on a 7ft door. Maybe they did this to raise it up out of the way of something. You will need to use 8ft cables and about a half wrap around the drum is correct. by Doug B a
STAFF ANSWER: You can order either. it does not hurt to have a little extra and it just stays wound up. by Matthew O a
