ANSWER: I just purchased this pulley myself......I'm not sure what you mean by groove in the middle? Their is the groove for the cable to fit in the perimeter of the pulley. It is not spoked if that's what your asked but is a two-piece riveted and very strong. by Ron K a
ANSWER: The pulley has a shaft in the center with a hole in it for a mounting bolt but there is no groove except for the one on the outer edge of the pulley. I used the ones I bought on heavy duty hurricane shutters that cover my sliding patio doors when there is a major storm coming. We need that in Florida. They worked very well. by S E a
