QUESTION: I have a Gene 88 opener that is working fine. The sensor has a blinking red light so I tried to realign, but that did not work. I was planning on trying this product until I noticed one of the sensors on my unit has four wires attached to it and the other unit has two. will this product work for me? ANSWER: I don't know if if it will work with the four, but mine only had two wires and it has worked great. I know this does not answer your question, but you might be able to call or email Northshore and they could probably answer it. by Steve D a
ANSWER: Four wires at one sensor and two wires at the other is normal. One sensor has the two power wires from the drive unit coming to it PLUS two wires coming from it, going to the other sensor. The other sensor just has those two wires coming from the first sensor connected to it. You may not be able to see this if the wires were installed and then hidden behind drywall.

The sensor with the green light is the one with four wires and the sensor with the red light is the one with two wires. It doens't matter which side of the door the sensors are on, but it is advisable to install the sensor with the red light on the side that gets the most sun, because it is easier to see. If the wires are already installed behind drywall, just put the replacement red light sensor where the four wires are, and the replacement green light sensor where the two wires are. by Steven C a
ANSWER: The Genie replacement sensors even the newer GSTB-BX model that replaced the older model STB-BL should work fine. There is a 2-conductor wire that connects to one sensor and extends to the other sensor; then a second 2-conductor wire connects that unit to the main door opener. Just be sure to keep the four wires connected to the new unit as thy were with the old one. You can install the new sensors easily with their integral brackets and align after power is applied. There is an instruction sheet supplied with the unit which show slightly different wiring, but electrically, the above wiring is identical.

Hope this helps. by R R a
ANSWER: the wiring for the new sensor from an old sensor that has four wires will have to be combined note wire markingsjust twist the same markings into two sets. It will work. by Coleman H a

QUESTION: I have a Genie Pro screw drive installed in 2000 in a new house. The sensors are not working and I have tried to realign them to no avail. I believe they may need replaced. The sensors have the two screws on the end which I believe simply hold down the contact wires so there would be no need for any wire work, just attach new sensors and screw down the contacts. Need to be sure to order the correct ones. Do you have relacements for older systems like this? by Don C 8/20/2014
