ANSWER: my door was already predrillled when i was installing mine .. It is 10" from the top of the door. hope this answers your question by michael s a
ANSWER: I drilled my hole 12 1/2 inches from the top of the door. It could be 10 inches or even over the 12 inches as long as it is not too far to allow the pull wire to reach the pull down latch. It is important to also have it directly in line with the track mechanism to give you a smooth pull action to release the door. by John M a
