Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset my Genie garage door opener?
At North Shore Commercial Door, we carry a full line of Genie residential garage door openers and Genie commercial garage door operators. Our free Genie garage door operator and parts installation manuals offer easy-to-follow instructions on how to install, set and reset Genie garage door operators.
Genie operators with trademarked Intellicode (rolling code) access security systems automatically reset access codes from more than 1 billion possible combinations every time you operate your garage door opener.
Why is my Genie garage door opener not working?
Access our free product installation and troubleshooting manuals, which you can download from our website, for your old or new Genie garage door operator. Our interactive Exploded Parts View (EPV) diagrams illustrate what Genie replacement parts look like, and how they fit with other parts on your operator.
If your Genie chain or belt garage door operator runs, but doesn't move, Genie suggests making sure the carriage is engaged with the chain or belt. If the emergency release cord has been pulled, re-engage the carriage. If an inspection shows a pulley is broken, replace it. We carry Genie garage door operator replacement parts for every Genie model.
If your Genie screw drive operator runs, but doesn't move, make sure the carriage is engaged. If the motor is running, but the screw is not turning, Genie suggests replacing the coupler. If your garage door opener works with the wall console, but not when using the remote, replace the battery. If that doesn't work, consider replacing the remote.
How do I reprogram my Genie remote?
Each of our Genie garage door opener remote control transmitters comes with instructions on how to program and re-program your garage or gate operator remote. Always make sure first that your battery is working. (We sell replacement batteries, too.)
Remotes with built-in Intellicode rolling code technology will automatically reset the code each time the remote is used. This prevents others from hacking your remote to gain access to your garage or other property without your knowledge.
